10 Acts to Watch……
Festival No.6 2016
This year’s Festival No.6 located in the beautiful Portmeirion in Wales is only 3 weeks away!, We’ve chosen some of the best acts for you to check out at the festival, some are veterans you may have already heard of before, others are new and upcoming bands you may have not but what they all have in common is that they will all put on unmissable sets you can’t miss!
We’re not sure of set times so fair warning in advance some of these acts may clash.
Bastille rightfully make the step up to headliners for the first night of No.6, after dominating the charts 4 years ago with Pompeii and their debut album ‘Bad Blood’ the boys have returned.
New singles ‘Good Grief’ and ‘Fake It’ are both fantastic and If they are anything to go by then their new album ‘Wild World’ could be a late contender for album of the year when it’s released only a week after the festival
They’ve proved they can stand out at festivals with fantastic performances at both Big Weekend and Glastonbury but you feel Wales is going to get something particularly special with their first headline performance at a major festival, your guaranteed lots of energy from Dan and the guys, a load of new songs and of course old favourites sounding bigger than ever, Bastille are definitely one to watch!
Here’s them performing ‘Good Grief’ at this years Glastonbury.
2. Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds
He’s a British legend and was part of one of the biggest bands of all time, Noel Gallagher himself arrives in Wales to close out this year festivities. Noel’s High Flying Bird’s have been highly successful in their own right with two brilliant No.1 albums that are reminiscent of the epic singalong’s created by Oasis.
If any of his recent setlist’s are anything to go by then we are all in for a treat, mixing songs from his High Flying Bird’s and some of Oasis’s biggest hits, it’s bound to be an exhilarating set from start to finish.
Check out the classic Champagne Supernova from last year’s T In The Park to see just what’s in store.
3. David Bowie Reimagined
We tragically lost a music icon earlier in the year in David Bowie, truly one of the greats and Festival No.6 are fittingly paying tribute, I have absolutely no idea what to expect from this but from the description itself this sounds like it will be hearth wrenchingly beautiful and possibly one of the best set’s at any festival this year!
“For a very special tribute at this year’s festival, we have commissioned No.6 composer-in-residence Joe Duddell to work with the world famous Manchester Camerata chamber orchestra on an exclusive David Bowie Reimagined performance. This exclusive work will feature arrangements of iconic songs from across Bowie’s career, with very special guests on each song, in what promises to be one of the highlights of this year festival season.
Last week, Rockin1000 paid tribute themselves check out over a 1,200 musicians rocking out to David Bowie below.
4. Brythoniaid Male Voice Choir
Festival No.6 would not be complete without a performance from practically residential choir, they have to be heard live to be truly appreciated, bound to give you goosebumps and you have no excuse to miss them, as they play at the central plaza each day.
Check out one of their fantastic promotional videos for the festival below.
Their debut album is soaring to this week’s No.1 spot and it’s not hard to see why, the indie rocker’s have a unique sound that has been described as anything from Abba to Phil Collins or even Taylor Swift but I think it’s safe to say they are unique in their own right.
After a triumphant set at last year’s festival they return to take a spot on the main stage, make sure to check out one of this year’s biggest rising stars.
You would have most likely heard of Aurora last year when she appeared on the annual tear jerker that is the John Lewis christmas advert, coincidentally covering this year’s headliner Noel Gallagher himself.
She’s only young at 19 but her beautiful voice show’s a maturity beyond her years. Be prepared for an angelic set that can’t be missed at the main stage on Friday.
Another young female singer songwriter in Frances, we saw her earlier in the year at this year’s Coachella where she opened up the festival on one of the smaller stages, it didn’t take long before her outstanding voice, perfectly written songs and lovable stage presence had drawn any passerby’s straight into the tent and listening to her set.
You can see what the draw is for yourself when one of 2016’s rising star’s features on the Main Stage on Sunday
8. John Bramwell
I got to meet the lovely John Bramwell at this year’s Meltdown Festival where his band I Am Kloot performed a one off and unique orchestral gig, read our chat here.
You can expect a completely different set at this year’s Festival no.6 however. Going solo mean’s you’ll be treated to a stripped back and mostly acoustic set. John however is one of Britain’s best ever singer songwriters and his songs have impact whether played with a 12 piece orchestra, with Kloot or just by himself as you’ll soon find out.
9. Fleetmac Wood
Yes, that is spelt correctly! the premise of the group is simple but ingenious, take some of the best songs ever made (all by Fleetwood Mac of course!) and give them to 2 DJ’s to create a brilliant party atmosphere and a club night like none other, find them late at night at the House of Rum, we can’t think of a better way to close out our Friday night.

This is not a cop out trust us, there are many different act’s we could have left you with but Festival No.6 is unique in the fact that the venue itself of Portmeirion is truly magical and you feel that the festival would lose the majority of it’s charm without it. We’ll be reporting from the festival all weekend and can’t wait to see you guy’s there for what will be a truly memorable weekend.
