Lorde returns with ‘Green Light’ and announces new album ‘Melodrama’

It’s happened! Lorde has finally made her grand return to music with brand new single ‘Green Light’ which is the first song to be taken from her upcoming second album ‘Melodrama’.

Earlier today she appeared on practically ever major radio station from BBC Radio 1 all the way to digital powerhouse Apple Beats 1 offering various different small snippets and interviews to each whilst debuting the track, check out the Grant Singer directed video below and then read on to find out more;

As you can tell ‘Green Light’ is a major departure from her outstanding debut ‘Pure Heroine’, it’s an upbeat take on heartbreak, describing the track to Zane Lowe she said

“The song is actually about a heartbreak. And it’s not something that I really am used to writing about. It took me a while to be able to figure out how to write about that. It was my first major heartbreak. And the song is really about those moments kind of immediately after your life changes and about all the silly little things that you gravitate towards”

As for ‘Melodrama’ It’s expected to drop at some point this summer, it’s been entirely wrote and produced by Lorde and Jack Antonoff (the Bleachers frontman who was responsible for large parts of Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’). Check out the album’s artwork below
