R.I.P. Chris Cornell - Soundgarden & Audioslave singer dies unexpectedly aged 52

Music legend Chris Cornell has suddenly passed away aged only 52

UPDATE: (19:00) - Originally this article states that the cause of death is yet to be determined, tonight it's with a heavy heart we discover that Chris Cornell committed suicide, yet again are thoughts go out to his family.

Shocking news coming out of Detroit this morning, grunge icon Chris Cornell has unexpectedly passed away only hours after completing a 20 song set with his band Soundgarden, the cause of death is yet to be determined.

This sad news has come to a massive surprise to us here at The Perfect Tempo and many music fans across the world, understandably the family have asked for privacy and we wish them all the best in this awful time.

Chris Cornell was a man of many projects, the American singer was considered one of the founders of grunge music when he formed Soundgarden, best known for their Grammy Award-winning singles Black Hole Sun and Spoonman who broke up in 1997 (before later reforming in 2010)

During his time off from Soundgarden he formed Audioslave, a supergroup which featured the likes off Tom Morello, Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk all of who were a part of the massive Rage Against The Machine.

Chris also had a highly successful solo career which even resulted in the Bond theme tune for the first film in the Daniel Craig era 'You Don't Know My Name', his most recent release was his last solo album, the fantastic 'Higher Truth' in 2015.

We'll leave you with one of my favourite live videos of Chris, a powerful cover of the beautiful 'Imagine' by John Lennon.
