Hidden away among the countless festival’s you would have seen advertised all across the internet and festival forums is Way Out West, a unique experience with a line up quite unlike many others, somehow grabbing some of the most exclusive performers and acts around and combining them all together for one hell of a festival, we take a look at some of the reasons that make this Europe’s real hidden gem.
1. A very rare chance to see Frank Ocean
This surely has to be the first item on the list, known for being a bit of a flake when it comes to festival appearances, it seems that he’s finally sorted himself out after playing Denmark’s Northside festival and is set to appear in the U.K. for a few events (Parklife and Lovebox), it’s very rare to see Frank perform, his two stellar albums released as a surprise last year got and rightfully so absolutely brilliant acclaim from fans and critics alike
The chance to be one of very few concert goers to see tracks such as ‘Chanel’, ‘Lens’ and ‘Pink + White’ live has to be an opportunity that’s hard to pass up on, it’s clear Frank avoids the stage as much as possible, make sure you don’t miss out on the chance to see him while it’s still on offer.
2. Lana Del Rey’s Lust For Life’s big premiere
Way Out West is lucky enough to be placed only a couple weeks after Lana releases what is set to be an unbelievable fourth album and by placing her headline set mere weeks after the album lands it allows fans to get familiar with all the new tracks whilst still keeping them fresh, all signs point to yet another work of art from the striking female singer, her vocals are angelic just check out the phenomenal singles ‘Lust For Life’ and ‘Love’ for proof, definitely one of the best headline sets of the summer, even better is that it’s yet again a very rare European performance you’ll be hard to find elsewhere
3. Migos make waves
Despite being absolutely everywhere this year, you’d be hard pressed to find Migos on a single European line up this year, the American rap trio have released one of the best albums of their genre this year in ‘Culture’, it’s a very upbeat alternative to Frank and Lana and will have the whole field absolutely bouncing when they take to the stage, not to mention the chances of some stellar guest appearances.
4. What an undercard!
When festivals have massive exclusives acts such as Way Out West does for it's headliners then you usually end up with a disappointingly average or unknown undercard, this year Way Out West has no such problem at all, the likes of Ryan Adams and The Shins have indie fans more than accommodated for, London Grammar and George Ezra will keep the Lana fans happy, big rap names such as Vince Staples, Young Thug and Danny Brown are all present, major British talent such as the XX and has a prime slot, oh and if your into your dance acts then massive current names like Major Lazer, Flume and Cashmere Cat have you more than suitably satisfied. It truly is Europe’s answer to Coachella, even located in the beautiful scenic landscapes of Gothenburg.
